We recently hosted an incredible session with Kiku Loomis, a strategist and marine scientist, who shared her groundbreaking work on the ‘Moby Pic’ catalog. This photo-ID catalog of sperm whales in the Northeast Pacific is the first of its kind to be made publicly available.
Why Photo-ID Matters
Identifying individual whales through their unique flukes allows researchers to track migration patterns, health, and social structures without invasive methods. Kiku’s work bridges 30 years of data into a modern tool for conservation.
